Our group, affectionately known as "MoHE," came
into being in the spring of 2005. Several of us had
together and /or coincidentally met at a St. Louis
County Board of Elections Commissioners meeting
one Tuesday afternoon. This was after we had been
alerted to the issue of the security issues being
discovered with the new electronic voting machines
that were promoted by the Help America Vote Act
of 2002 (HAVA). After the meeting we went to a nearby
McDonald's for coffee and snacks. We began to talk
to each other about why we had turned out, to the
astonishment of the Commissioners. It was a turning
point in the lives of several of us, as this issue is about
the underpinnings of our democratic form of government,
which affects every citizen in the USA.
Then in April of 2006 we met in Columbia with a group of similarly engaged Kansas City area citizens. Coincidentally, the Boone County Clerk was speaking to another group at the place we met. Thus we established ourselves as a group with state wide interest.
This page will be devoted to the citizens of Missouri specifically. We want you all to become better informed about the results of HAVA, a piece of legislation that could have taken us to the doom of freedom if activists throughout the country had not recognized the dangers in it early enough.
This is a nonpartisan issue, and this site will endeavor to continue our working relationship with election officials at state and local levels. We believe the work that a few of us have done has helped to secure the recognition of the paper ballot or paper trail as essential to election integrity.
Still, Missouri does not yet have adequate auditing laws. And other issues remain regarding the security of our ballots. If you would like to join in the discussion, email us at info@mohonestelections.org.
We are also planning educational activities from time to time, so stay tuned for details. Other resources will also be listed on this page--if you us for consideration to be included, please email it to the above address.have a link to send it.
